The Offensive Jesus

Does “the offensive Jesus” sound off-putting? Jesus is known as a good and compassionate person, so why describe him as “offensive”?

When Jesus walked this earth in the first century, a lot of people were offended by him – not because he was unkind or cruel, but because he did not meet their expectations or fit in their preconceived boxes.
• When he challenged self-righteous religious leaders, it offended their egos.
• When he claimed to be God, it offended the sceptics.
• When he showed love to the outcasts, it offended the respectable.

Jesus doesn’t tell us what we WANT to hear.
He tells us what we NEED to hear!

Today many people continue to be offended at Jesus’ teaching. However, I would hazard a guess that a large percentage of people in Airdrie haven’t actually encountered the real teaching of Jesus.

What if the message of this “offensive Jesus” is actually good news: life-changing news, a message of love and hope? We hope that you will come to our guest services.
