Mrs Elizabeth Shaw

Mrs Elizabeth Shaw went to be with the Lord on the 22nd June.

She was baptised here in this church, and became a member at the age of 16, making her a member for over 63 years. She loved the church and was never more delighted than when she spent time worshipping here with her church family. Elizabeth and Ian were married in March 1965 and both became active members in church life. They had two daughters who also grew up in the Airdrie church before marrying and moving away. Elizabeth also spent many years looking after her own parents in their old age.

About 14 years ago Elizabeth’s health began to fail, developing ulcers in her legs which gave her terrible pain and ultimately led to her right leg being amputated in 2013. During it all Elizabeth managed to keep positive and trusted in her Lord. Elizabeth has now gone to be with her Saviour whom she loved, and she is now free from all the pain and suffering, which brings huge comfort to all those who loved her.

At her funeral, Rev Stephen McCollum spoke on Job 19:23-27 and the truth that though death and suffering come to all, for the believer in Christ, suffering will come to an end, and we will see our Saviour with our own eyes.

Elizabeth was an example to the congregation and as part of our church family is very much missed. Please keep her husband, Ian, and the rest of the family in your prayers.
