November Good News

The November edition of Good News is now available to download.

From the Editorial:
Life is stressful. I hope that you have found time to sit with your feet up with a hot beverage and to take Good News in your hand! Perhaps some of the stresses of life could be soothed, or put into perspective, if we take to heart what Tim Donachie writes about in our contemporary article. I hope it helps.

Rev. Nick Jones has kindly let us print his account of how he came to our position on exclusive psalmody. Some of us have grown up with the position, others have come into the church and experienced it – but all of us, as Reformed Presbyterians, will be asked occasionally – Why do you only sing the psalms?! Nick, formerly from the Church of Ireland, is a new minister in the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Ireland. He is currently without charge but has received three calls within the Irish Church, and so we pray for the Lord’s guidance for his future.

I want to thank Nathan Eshelman for his four-part series on important figures from ancient church history. They have been very interesting and practical for the 21st Century. Although the series has drawn to a conclusion in our magazine, readers can find Nathan’s full 33-part series on the Orlando RP Sermonaudio page.

We interviewed Ruth Murphy from Dóchas & Cúram in Newry. All Christians should be pro-life and anti-abortion, but how can we truly help those who are struggling with the difficulties of having babies. If “pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world,” then it is important that we seek by God’s grace to show mercy. This interview ties in well as a 21st Century application of the William Symington sermon, the final instalment of which is in this edition.
