November Good News

The November edition of Good News is now available to download.

One thing that we value highly as a church is the welfare of our children. Children are under the immediate authority and protection of their parents, but that does not mean that the church has no role to play. In fact, covenant children belong to the church – they are members under our care; lambs for us to shepherd. Whilst it may seem strange to the world to oppose children’s rights, the issue is more complex. Tim Donachie assists us with a Biblical critique of current policy in Scotland. And since we’re talking about children, let me encourage our young readers to use our youth pages. If any parents want to share pictures of their completed activities I am sure the children will be rewarded!

Thank you to Mark Loughridge for the series on apologetics. We have found it thought-provoking as we try to engage with real people amid the maelstrom of cultural shifts. Mark’s final article is a positive counterstory that is a joy to share.

Joey Dunlap, no stranger to us in Scotland, begins a new historical series on Scotland’s Forgotten Decade. Thankfully Joey not only helps us remember but also applies lessons to today. Also in our historical section you can read an account of the last days of the life of Rev. John McMillan, the first minister of the Reformed Presbyterian Church after the Revolution. Some readers may be facing death, either your own approaching or a recent bereavement. Allow this father of our church to encourage you in affliction.
