May Good News

The May edition of Good News is now available to download.

From the editorial:

In our last edition, Tim Donachie wrote about the King’s official visit to the Pope, a matter that is of grave concern to Protestants in this nation. The Witness Bearing committee of Presbytery has written to the King about his promotion false religions, against the continuing obligations of our national covenants. This letter has been sent to MPs. At the time of writing the Scottish Parliament has been dissolved, but it is the intention to send the letter to all MSPs after the election. It will also be sent to other denominations in Scotland. Whilst all our congregations will pray for those in authority, it would be especially prudent to pray for a favourable response to our letter. The sceptical part of us may say that we will make no difference, we’ll be ignored. But we must remember that Reformation is not only possible, but, according to the prophesies of God’s Word, certain at some future time. We should therefore pray diligently and with faith for our letter to do some good. At the very least, it is a public witness “For Christ’s Crown and Covenant.”

I hope you find the articles in this edition useful. There is a diversity, from the moral issue of gambling that is ruinous to society to the challenges of preserving and promoting psalmody. There is no shortage of problems, but there are also helpful solutions suggested.

In a previous edition we interviewed Geneva College, a university under the authority of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. This time we have interviewed Rev. Titus Martin, the minister of College Hill RPC. As the name suggests, his congregation sits on the college campus, giving opportunities to minister to students. Often this is a formative time in a young person’s spiritual life. The interview will be of interest to those who have students in their congregtions.
